f.a.d. weekend New MARKET!

Not only will the goods be good but the venue looks amazing!   f.a.d. weekend is a pop-up (fashion, art and design) indoor makers’ market & flea held in Brooklyn on Sundays. It begins it series at 22 Boerum Pl, a McKim, Mead & White 1926 Renaissance revival style theater, on May 1 – June 26. It is a curated space that brings together a pool of emerging and mid-career artists and designers from all backgrounds, representing the talent of the city and beyond, together with vintage, antiques & collectibles.

Boerum Hill, located conveniently next to Gowanus, Park Slope, Carroll Gardens and Brooklyn Heights, is such a lovely old neighborhood with many colonial style brownstones.  A great place to walk around.

This will be my first full market of the year. There will be new picnic blankets, some new apron styles and seasonal summery table linens!

the Gigi Half Apron, 1950's anyone?

I am loving this new fabric which is printed on Barkcloth. Barkcloth is a looser, slightly heavier weave but the fabric is not heavy.  I am keeping this one clean and simple. One pocket, on the reverse side of the fabric to add some dimension and not take away from the overall print.

Hope to see you! Have a great weekend!

Holiday Market this weekend

Holiday season is here and market season as well as shopping season is in full swing. This past week we saw Black Friday, Small Biz Saturday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday. I'm exhausted just repeating those.  This weekend is the Etsy NY Handmade Holiday Cavalcade being held at Chelsea Market.

I will be there selling aprons, tea towels, napkins and runners.  Of course there will be some festive table linens as well.

Elf gnomes are happy to hop around table in this reversible runner with pom poms.

BEKKO APRON

I will also be debuting a new apron, the Bekko Vendor Apron.  Of course anyone can use it but I did design it with a craft vendor in mind. Pockets for pens, scissors, iPad, hammer loop for the jewelry designer or towel loop for the chef. and a itty bitty coin pocket.

The Bekko is made is a nice medium weight cotton and the pockets are double lined with a pop fabric.

The Cavalcade will be held this weekend December 5th and 6th at Chelsea Market.  The first 100 people will receive an awesome Goody Bag!  The doors open at 10.  You can find more info here!

Handmade Holiday Market this Saturday

My first market of the season will be this Saturday November 14th in Park Slope Brooklyn.  The Hollyberry Craft Fair has been an annual event for almost two decades.  I have only lived in Brooklyn for 3 years and this will be my first time participating in the Hollyberry Fair.  All products at the Hollyberry will be handmade.  One of the things that attracted me to this market.

Hollyberry Fair at Camp Friendship in Park Slope Brooklyn

The fair will be held from 10 am to 3:30 pm and is held at Camp Friendship 339 8th St between 5th and 6th Aves.  This is a short distance from the R, G and F trains at the 9th Street stop. Or you can have a tasty brunch at one of my favorite restaurants, Talde at 369 7th Ave and do some post noshing shopping.

I will be debuting my holiday collection and my new Holiday Pink collection.  There will be table linens for Thanksgiving, Christmas and the winter season. New aprons will also be available.

So get a head start on your holiday shopping or general gift buying and come buy local!

Hope to see ya!

Etsy Craft Party, Kaleidoscope: Paper Taking Shape

photo: etsy.com

This coming Friday and Saturday will be the Etsy Craft Party.  Not just in one place but all over.  This is the celebration of crafting and community.  I am fortunate enough to live just a few miles away from the headquarters.  But anyone can organize a craft party.  All the details are right here.

Every Etsy event I have been to has always been chock full of goodies, creativity and inspiration. This year's theme is Kaleidoscope: Paper taking Shape.  Don't think you have to be crafty to attend. Everyone is welcome. It's all about enjoying yourself and meeting new people!

One of my favorite things about creating is the community.  Stitch n bitch, craft gathers or quilting bees.  They are all wholesome and  down to earth pleasant things to do.

This year Etsy will be doing something different.  They have invited local Etsy sellers to apply for a craft fair that will be held during the craft party.   I applied and got accepted! So if you come to do some paper crafting, look for me! I will be there selling aprons, picnic blankets, tea towels and napkins.  Everything you need for a summer day in the park or at the beach.

Coming up....Local Markets

Spring is here and I love it! The weather cool at night warm to hot in the day.  This is my kind of weather. And with great weather comes street fairs.  There are always quite a few every weekend in New York City.  As a maker I do participate in a few.  This weekend will be my first fair for the the summer season.  Clear view Cinemas also runs street fairs.  This Saturday, May 30th, they will be holding a street fair on the Upper Eastside of Manhattan.  However, they have contacted Etsy and have created an Etsy Block.  When I first heard this I was so excited! Usually street fairs can sell a lot of undesirable stuff, cheap tee shirts, bad socks, etc... Etsy will be covering streets 75th and 76th on 3rd Ave.   The fair itself will be from 66th to 86th Street.

I've been a busy bee working on picnic blankets, napkins, aprons and tea towels.

Here are a few shots of my wips.  (works in progress)

Lobster Water Resistant Pocket Picnic Blanket

Zebra napkins

adult and kids linen aprons

Most of these items are in my etsy shop but those one of the kind items usually are exclusive to markets.

June 6, Saturday is the Etsy Craft Fair in the Dumbo section of Brooklyn. Since 2010, Etsy has hosted a Craft Party, a global celebration of making and meeting, creativity and community.  For the first time at the headquarters which is in Brooklyn,  they will be selling locally made goods.  Etsy NY team members were given the opportunity to apply.  I applied and was accepted!  Very excited about this.  Such a great opportunity for me.    So come craft, create, meet and shop!

And all summer long traceytoole products will be in the EtsyNY booth at Celebrate Brooklyn.  This is the third season and it's such a fantastic venue!  Music, movies and art.  Some are free and some are benefit concerts.

Hope to see you this summer!
