It all started when…

Working in mass manufacturing one sees a lot of waste. The fashion and beef industries are the top two polluters in the world. With this knowledge I wanted to work with fabrics that have less of a negative effect on our earth. Molly McGowan was my paternal grandmother. I found a photo of her wearing a very well loved apron. The year was about 1936. Times when nothing was wasted, we didn’t have access to so many fabrics, colors, technologies. Life was simpler. Families lived together and we didn’t live separately around the world. McGowan Mercantile was created to celebrate families. Those we are born into, created or chosen.
