Table top Ideas for Thanksgiving

It looks like this season we will be able to celebrate with close family and friends in person and not virtually. Are you excited to have friends over and do some entertaining? Summer is over and days and nights are turning cooler here in the northeast. Decorating a table, inside or out can be done simply and still provide the wow factor. Here are a few, low stress ways to add a little interest to your table.

First gather inventory in your house. Do you have candlesticks, autumn colored candles- red, orange, gold, aubergine colors, twinkle lights, mason jars, vases, table runners, placemats? Since it is fall I use seasonally appropriate items; pinecones, acorns, leaves, and anything else you might find on a Thanksgiving day nature walk. In October I took my 8 year old to a farm for some pumpkin picking and fall festivities. I picked up some gourds, white pumpkins and tiny jack be littles.

Make a pumpkin planter. Just like scooping out a pumpkin for Halloween but add water to a mason jar and insert it into the pumpkin. Fill with florals and branches from your yard or the grocery store.

Below is a soft, nature palette from Terrain. All the pumpkins are used as planters or vases. Brass candlesticks, dark grey plates with aubergine napkins, leaf napkin rings and white candles.

This table has sea blue dinnerware something you usually wouldn’t see on a Thanksgiving table. But the soft colors of sage, eucalyptus and white pumpkins make the whole setting look fresh and beautiful. Look underneath the plates and you will see log charger. Extra eucalyptus branches are used to wrap around white textured napkins.

Below looks like a table cloth rolled up and twisted for a casual table runner. Apples on some greenery, white candles battery operated, wood chargers and green and white pumpkins. I love the pinecone and leaf laying in each white soup bowl.

I think the below tablescape might be my favorite. An outside setup with mini white pumpkins, brass candlesticks, white candles, a white basket and white pail holding seasonal mums in red and orange. I love the black table with simple white and tan plaid napkins. Cutting boards are used to elevate the centerpiece. This photo is taken by Guesthouse 71 in Canada.

I hope you found some inspiration in these photos and make a beautiful holiday table. In NYC you can pick up a bouquet of flowers and branches from a bodega. You can also buy beautiful arrangements from a woman named Elise in Brooklyn Heights, Fleur Elise Brooklyn. Brass candlesticks can be found in vintage stores or your favorite home store. Just use what you have and keep the colors seasonal, it will look awesome.
